So we have a little place on a lake to get away from the hustle and bustle. It’s a condo type situation, with 300+ campers and activities for the residents throughout the summer. I was skimming through their announcements for upcoming events and I read that they were looking for volunteers to start exercise classes. I had started a conversation with some neighbors about how they are sad that most of the activities are for kid’s and the retired folk don’t have many options.
In that moment I felt compelled to start a yoga community there. We are usually up to the lake once a week for at least a night, so I would commit to at least one class while there. It would be free classes, so it would be part of my Karma Yoga practice, doing something selfless for no return. I am really excited to see if I can bring yoga to more people, especially in an age group that can really use it for their physical and mental well-being.
I am only doing beginners and chair to start, and I got my ‘Zen Wagon’ together, a traveling yoga studio with mats, towels, straps, and blocks to borrow. It makes me nervous putting myself out there, but I think it will be really rewarding and get me more comfortable around new practitioners.
Wish me luck! Namaste
